The Meek

22 Aug 13 Devotional from, Experiencing God

Today we are learning about meekness. When most people hear the word meek, they associate it with weakness. God's idea of meekness was quite a bit different. The meek in God's eyes gave up their selfish lives to live for God, to give Him their all.

To live in meekness is to rely fully on God, trusting that He will protect you, guide you, help and encourage you. Jesus is a perfect example of meekness. When He was on the cross, He could have called a legion of angels to come take Him away, unharmed; but instead He trusted in His father to protect Him. He followed His fathers will without question. That is how we should be living our lives with Jesus as our father.

Jesus said that in relinquishing control over our lives to God, we will gain life in abundance.
Consider how much of your life you are trying to take on, on your own and how much control you are actually giving to God.
